Sales Officer

Masika Ventures is the network behind our portfolio companies. We support shared backend systems and strengthen each business by sharing best practices and expertise. We are currently seeking a motivated Sales Officer to join our Tanganyika Blue team. 

Tanganyika Blue is a Kigoma-based aquaculture fish farm and company producing high-quality, sustainably farmed tilapia for regional markets. Our mission is to build a structured, reliable fish distribution network that strengthens food security, creates economic opportunity, and delivers consistent value to communities across Tanzania and neighboring markets including Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Sales Officer is responsible for driving sales growth and expanding the market presence of our fish products through the establishment of various sales channels (incl. Community Traders Programme, growth of HORECA and supermarket accounts and expansion into regional and cross-border distribution).

This field-based role involves developing strong relationships with clients and customers, identifying new market opportunities, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve sales goals. We are seeking a solution-oriented individual who can demonstrate proactive leadership, commercial judgement, and independent problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage community traders
  • Develop and grow HORECA, supermarket, regional, and cross-border accounts
  • Coordinate closely with another sales officer to align strategy and market coverage
  • Manage daily cash collections, credit control, and repayment tracking
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and distribution logistics
  • Identify and support establishment of a strategic depot location in Kigoma
  • Monitor sales performance and adjust recruitment, pricing, or channel strategy as needed
  • Represent Tanganyika Blue professionally with traders, distributors, and institutional buyers.

Must Have

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and people skills with the ability to lead sales presentations and close deals. 
  • Analytical abilities, with attention to detail
  • Self-driven with the capacity to make well-informed decisions
  • Proficiency in Swahili and English (spoken & written) is essential


Qualifications & Experience

  • Basic understanding of pricing, margins, and credit management
  • Willingness to travel within the region, including potential cross-border engagement
  • Experience in sales, distribution, FMCG, agribusiness, cross-border trade and working with informal traders and structured clients is favorable, but not mandatory
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, a valid driver's license and clean driving record are favorable, but not mandatory
